Full of surprises, the third tableau in the Chaumet en Scène collection highlights some bewitching pieces. Like a magician captivating his audience, the craftsmen of 12 Vendôme make diamonds and pearls undulate in a magnetic illusion, whether they are transforming diamonds into a glittering dance or creating the illusion of a mirror-like effect in rubies and diamonds.

Reminiscent of the acrobat who keeps spectators on the edge of their seats, the diamonds reveal their radiance in a set worthy of a breathtaking high-wire acrobat. Like a tightrope walker’s wire, the set plays with lines, as if twisted and pinched.

Like an audience entranced by a magician’s illusions, the rubies and diamonds surrender to the workshop’s mastery.

A technique emblematic of Chaumet’s brilliance, trompe-l’œil is a variant of grain setting, in which several diamonds are set in a pear shape to give the illusion of a single stone. For the set sharing the same name, it accentuates the fine pearls as if by magic.

Made up of fascinating pieces, the Trompe-l’œil set honors the delicacy of the fine pearl through the extreme sophistication of interlaced jewels. Inspired by the Maison’s longstanding pearl tradition, the « négligé » necklace is a testament to Chaumet’s mastery and style. The elegance of the design is matched only by the artistry of its creation by the atelier’s magicians.

As supple as fabric thanks to the fully articulated chain, the piece required the fine button pearls to be placed with the utmost precision, each with its own diameter and height, to create complete harmony with the trompe-l’œil-set diamonds. The creation is reminiscent of the one that seduced the Maharaja of Indore Tukoji Rao Holkar III in 1913, embellished with two extraordinary 46.70-carat and 46.95-carat pear-shaped diamonds.
