How to choose and wear your engagement ring

The heart of Chaumet beats with a love story: that of the eternally modern couple Joséphine and Napoléon, symbols of French romance. This unique heritage, alive since 1780, sparks every engagement ring crafted by the Maison. Each diamond ring, inspired by the world of High Jewellery, is designed to highlight the exceptional gems selected by the Maison.

An engagement ring is a significant purchase for brides- and grooms-to-be. Chaumet offers a wide range of rings to suit all tastes. The Maison’s experts draw on all their rigour and savoir-faire to craft exceptionally elegant designs. Here is some guidance from the Maison on how to choose, then wear, your engagement ring.

Choosing your Chaumet engagement ring

Choosing an engagement ring can be a tricky process if you don’t have a clear idea of what you’re looking for. The same applies if you’re looking for a ring for your partner.

The first step is to find out as much as possible about their preferred style, colour, precious metals and gemstones. Brilliant-cut or pear-shaped diamonds, rose gold, platinum, sapphires, rubies, emeralds… There are so many options to choose from!

Chaumet diamonds: ethical excellence

Chaumet diamonds undergo a rigorous selection process based on the 4Cs established by the GIA: colour, clarity, cut and carat weight. In addition to these, the Maison has its own fifth criterion: harmony. Each diamond is chosen for its symmetry, its brilliance and the emotion it evokes.

Chaumet is committed to ethical practices. Raw materials and especially the diamonds used by the Maison come from sources certified by the Kimberley Process. Chaumet has also been a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council since 2005. Every diamond weighing more than 0.30 carats comes with a certificate from the Gemological Institute of America. A unique number corresponding to this is engraved on the stone, serving as proof of the diamond’s authenticity and uniqueness.
