Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet

An invitation to travel

For the first time in its history, Chaumet dedicates an entire High Jewellery collection to the sea.

Inventing a unique jewellery language, Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet explores a variety of horizons to tell the story of the sea in all its manifestations, from waves caressing the water’s surface to underwater treasure hunts, ships in ports of call and the currents of the Gulf Stream.

A magnificent journey, reflecting the stones that express all the shades of the seas, to be discovered in three chapters: Waves in motion, Shores from above and A thousand and one sea dwellers.

Waves in motion

True to the Maison’s distinctive style, the “On the Water’s Surface”, “Gulfstream” and “Breaking Wave” jewellery sets evoke a vast sea in motion as a true ode to life.

Gulfstream set
The “On the Water's Surface” creations majestically capture the lapping of the sea caressed by waves. Diamonds and white gold palmettes transform into sparkling reflections between full and empty spaces.

Inspired by the Gulf Stream, an ocean current from Florida that warms the seas it crosses, the “Gulfstream” set combines cold and warm colours: from green and blue to orange and blue. A masterful combination in homage to the Maison’s emblematic art of colour.

Merging the intrinsic elegance of Chaumet’s creations with their bold character, “Breaking Wave” achieves the feat of capturing crashing waves in full motion to bring life to creations made entirely of white gold and diamonds.

Shores from above

Between sea and land, the “Ports of Call”, “Golden Pebbles” and “Under the Sun” jewellery sets draw the Maison’s gaze to the shore.

Inspired by a suspended moment in time, whether in a port or cove, the “Ports of Call” jewellery set showcases the art of colour beloved by the Maison. The exceptional brick-red spinels unite with Paraiba tourmalines and sapphires. The marquise-cut diamonds are a special nod to the ships that drop anchor in various ports of call.

In a fine display of goldsmithing, one of Chaumet’s signature crafts, the “Golden Pebbles” set transports the wearer to the shore, where pebbles lapped by the waves glisten in the sun. Textured with tiny grooves, the pink gold merges with white gold, as diamonds represent the water flowing over the mineral.

Bursting with bright colours, the “Under The Sun” set reveals life at the beach, complete with activities… and moments of relaxation. Inspired by Art Deco and pop colours, these creations playfully evoke precious parasols and fruit cocktails.

A thousand and one sea dwellers

With “Mermaids’ Song”, “Comets from the sea”, “Treasure Hunt” and “Inks”, the Maison pays tribute to the dwellers of the sea and the treasures they carefully watch over.

Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet wouldn't be able to tell the story of the sea without envisioning a set for a 21st-century mermaid. Seductive like its muse, “Mermaids’ Song” has no intention of causing shipwrecks, but instead seeks to captivate with its sublime Tahitian pearls magnified by tourmalines ranging from lime green to rare shades of ice green.

Continuing the Maison’s tradition of pearl work, the “Comets from the sea” set unites the stars of the heavens and sea. In honour of this enchanting stone, the Maison's gemmologists have worked on an extraordinary collection of fine pearls, with light grey, mauve and olive shades that interact on creations featuring multicoloured stars crowned with sapphires.

“Treasure Hunt” brooch
Like a treasure hunt revealing its gems, the aptly named set offers a fantastical dive into an inspiring and vibrant sea. Somewhere between an animalistic and plant-like blossoming, the creations decorated with chrysoprase branches offer a glimpse of the coral reef. A variation on precious shades of pink, the other creations in the set mesmerise with their enchanting mix of Padparadscha sapphires, pink tourmalines, delicate angel skin coral beads and a radiant imperial topaz.

And what would a tribute to the sea be without its sailors? Undeniably bold, the unisex “Inks” brooches playfully recreate sailors’ tattoos. Strikingly sophisticated with their Grand Feu enamel decoration and elements arranged to the nearest micromillimetre, each brooch reveals a precious hand-engraved message.

240 years of mastery
With the Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet collection, the craftsmen of the High Jewellery workshop at 12 Vendôme once again honour the jewellery savoir-faire they are responsible for preserving and passing on to future generations.

Their craftsmanship, which is illustrated in the art of capturing the elements of the sea in all its manifestations, represents an extension of the close links between the Maison and nature, with waterfalls, cascades, drops and stalactites that have been used for more than 240 years to decorate tiaras, stomachers, brooches, combs and hair ornaments.
