First and foremost, the bolero is a style of Latin music with powerful chords, which accompanies dance steps full of passion and love. Of course, it also evokes Ravel’s Boléro, an absolute masterpiece of classical music, which stands out because of its famous crescendo and its repetitions. It was also a ballet which remains famous in the history of dance for its intensely sensual staging, for which we can thank the French choreographer, Maurice Béjart. There are so many references that weave their way through the audacious design of this new timepiece by Chaumet.
Finally, Boléro recalls the very first watch made by Maison Chaumet: a gold bracelet watch set with emeralds and pearls, designed in 1811 by the founder of the company, Marie-Étienne Nitot, for Princess Augusta of Bavaria, daughter-in-law of Empress Joséphine.
