In two words and three images, Chaumet expresses its vision of femininity. A femininity of today inspired by a woman of yesteryear with an astonishingly modern streak of independence: Empress Joséphine.
The first major client of the Maison, for which she remains a key source of inspiration, Josephine led her life according to desires, quietly accepting its paradoxes and, above all, remaining faithful to her instincts and taste, without ever shocking or yielding to orders.
Chaumet portrays this paradox through three ephemeral glimpses of real life, three graceful moments that pay tribute to the sovereign’s imagination.
A queen or an empress? Glimpsed in a picture or the pages of a magazine? Perhaps even set free from within a storybook?
Everyone is free to interpret these sketches according to their own desires, coloured as they are with the impertinence of the Chaumet spirit and thus Joséphine’s forever-liberated, inspiring femininity.
